A123 gets $2 billion in new business

LIVONIA – A123 Systems LLC, the Livonia-based, Chinese-owned manufacturer of lithium ion batteries and energy storage systems, announced that it had achieved $2 billion in new business commitments for the second straight year.

Included are high voltage, low voltage, and motorsports applications in various automotive applications in China, Europe, and North America.

“A123 saw the substantial market potential and strategically went after programs we felt were well aligned with our strengths,” said Sam Trinch, A123’s chief commercial officer. “It’s wonderful to see our efforts recognized with such prominent customer wins. We’re not done closing on some major programs, but our success in winning and implementing new business year over year is what continues to drive us to exceed our customer’s expectations.”
