Some 12 million customers of GoDaddy, the world鈥檚 largest domain registrar, were unable to access their accounts on Thursday.
Typical login protocols failed, and passwords were rejected. Attempts to change passwords were also unsuccessful.
The company, which says it has 58 million domains under management, told customers who called for help that the login problem was systemwide, and GoDaddy hoped to have the problem fixed in an hour. That was at 7 a.m.
In a Tweet at 7:35 a.m., a representative said the issue was fixed.
Requests for additional information by NJ Advance Media on the outage were not immediately answered, so the length of time users were unable to log in is unknown.
This was the second major problem for GoDaddy this week. On Monday, a blogger found a massive vulnerability that allowed hackers to hijack registered web sites, reports said.
GoDaddy applied a patch less than 24 hours after the blog was published, reports said.
The company didn鈥檛 immediately say if accounts had been compromised.
