1. Dota is prequel to DotA 2 expansion which is very good moba….As in other mobas you choose characters and play as them, you kill minions to get gold and later kill players to win the game…DotA has some lower graphics than DotA 2 but the game is much funnier to me than DotA 2 cuz i played DotA as a kid and had good memories on it…Pretty much recommend this game still is very enjoyable

  4. DOTA or Defense of the Ancients is a MOBA game that has quite stood the test of time. The unique characters, skills, gameplay is really something to keep coming back on. Being supported by the vast community of DOTA gamers, this game will last the ages as more heroes are updated. A few of the heroes can be somehow unbalanced but this usually handled through bans in professional tourneys. The graphics can be a bit old compared to its consequent game DOTA 2 but it was no joke during its reign in the early 2000’s. This is game surely worth a try.

  6. Defense Of The Ancients : Game Review

Defense of the Ancients is the 1st version of the popular game Defense of the Ancients 2 on steam. It was once at the pinnacle of M. O. B. A. s which took the time of many plauers young and old. It was a very addicting game that offered satisfaction and fun in many ways. Other players played it as a M. O. B. A. And fought with each other, improving their skills and finally unleashing their intellect regaeding the game so far. If played as a M. O. B. A., it requires strategical and critical thinking. Fast reflexes and attentive eyes as well. Alertness and being wise in decision making is the key to winning games. The mechanics involve gaining gold, which you need to “last hit” an enemy “creep” or a neutral creep for gold. Gold is important. It is used to buy items that will boost your stat and help you in game. These items have different uses as well, mainly the passive effect, and the active effect. Some active effects are – Dagon’s purge, hex. Etc. Hex makes the enemy a chicken or a frog or a fish or a pig depending on RNG for a short amoint of time which counts as a disable. The dagon instantly cuts down an enemy’s health point when used to them. But it has cool down time and mana cost. So use it only when its needed for securing a clean kill.
Moving on, the passive ability grants you a benefit anytime, like auras. The shiva’s guard aura grants you and your tem mates / allies to have additional armor whenever they are close to you (or to whomever is wearing a shiva’s guard)
Theres also the radiance, which afflicts the enemies in range a loss in the percentage of landing a hit succesfully to you and your allies/ team mates.

Bit as for me, i did not play it heavily as a M. O. B. A. im fact, i enjoyed playing the campaign / the story one. The lore of the heroes, their sad and amazing stories. Victories and also defeat.

There’s the good campaign, and the bad campaign. But i recommend ypu to play it both. Its fun. Like how Mortred kept on tracking the supposed to be “villain” Illidan. Which in fact wass trying to save the world from the potential evil that is rising. Namely “Abaddon” who wanted to claim the Frozen throne. Mortred chased the demonic Illidan down and lost her sisters in the process. Illidan, trying to chase for the once holy “Omniknight” now a melancholic, cold hearted “Abaddon”.

Illidan tried but failed to defeat the ever strong “Abaddon” and claimed the throne .

Mortred’s works were in vain and hatred grew upon her. Vengeance filled her heart and so on and so forth (i dont wanna spoil everythingie)

Well basically. What im saying is. I get more fun on stories and adventures rather than mindlessy fighting repeatedly in a map full of other players (or artificial intelligent bots) and win and witness the repetitive conclusoon / ending all over again.

Well anyways, the game is by far awesome. Even though it’s graphics are outdated now, its still classic and fun to play. I liked it

    I will give it a thumbs uppy~
    And a rate of 5/5 !!

  8. DOTA is the father, or mother, of the new MOBA style games that we are used to watch on streams. The game is so good, the graphics are not that good but the gameplay is epic. If you are looking for a good strategy game to play with friends, I recommend you this one!

  9. It is no doubt one of the most-defining games of the MOBA genre, so great that it even generated a standalone sequel by the name DotA 2. Considering that it was more of an additional add-on game than it was its own game, since you had to have Warcraft III, I think that’s the most impressive part about DotA. And the fact that this game was released around 2003 (six years before League) before the MOBA genre even exploded makes it even more of a marvel. The MOBA genre might not even around, if DotA didn’t exist. However, I do think DotA’s sequel DotA 2 is more refined than DotA since it’s more relevant (it’s the game people are playing competitively) and modern (newer engine, newer graphics). Overall, I’d give this game a 4.75/5.
