The series 24 followed a day in the life of counter terrorist hero on the run Jack Bauer ( Kiefer Sutherland).
Though never officially green lit, the film had a script in which Mark Bomback (" The Wolverine" " Shadow Divers") had tweaked from Billy Ray's initial script that was reportedly going to be the first in a possible film trilogy.
Fuqua was at the front of the line to direct the movie, which was put on indefinite hold a year ago.
"Yeah, that's not happening. I don't think it's gonna happen at all, definitely not with me. I met with Kiefer [Sutherland], Fox wanted to do it, it was a matter of his schedule before he went off to do his new show [ Touch]."
At the time there were budget concerns causing issues in the negotiations between Fox and Sutherland. Fuqua adds that:
"I don't think he [Sutherland] was able to get a proper agreement with Fox. The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing."
Fuqua's next pic is the boxing film " Southpaw" which hopes to begin production at the end of the Summer.
