It was a surprise, then, when Rock landed in the bottom two. And it was again when she was eliminated in favor of Brita, whose talent so far hasn't equaled her big talk. It should have been Brita and Aiden Zhane battling it out to Rihanna's "S&M."

But Rock had more pressing matters to attend to during our conversation, like a stubbed toe.

"It's OK, I'm already dead inside," she says.

We talked about her battle with self-confidence and her drag inspirations.

San Francisco has been ordered to stay home except for essential needs because of the coronavirus. How are you keeping yourself busy?

I'm doing just, like, porn livestreams and all this other stuff. No, I'm making lots of things that people can ingest at home. I do a lot of YouTube content and I draw all my own merch, my designs for my T-shirts.

Have you binge watched anything or caught up on any movies?

I've only watched myself crying in the mirror. It's the only thing that seems to be on in my house.

Now that you've had some months to reflect, what's your biggest takeaway from the show?

Well, I stole every shoe in the workroom, so for the rest of the season, none of the girls have anything to wear on their feet. So that was probably the biggest takeaway. I would say just have confidence in your brand and have confidence in you. You're here for a reason. The months after everything airs is so hard. Now that everything is airing, so many people are sending love, and so many people are sending messages about how wonderful my art is. I need to have confidence in my craft at all times. Even if the people in front of you, a judges panel or the queens that are with you, don't believe in your drag or don't like your it, there's always gonna be people who love and support your art.

How much did you struggle with those things before the show?

I've always struggled with my worth as a performer. I always believed that I'm never worth as much as my booking fee. I've had it a little hard, especially early on in my drag career. I've had so many people that didn't believe in my art and my craft. So many people that were like, "Your brand is not good for 'Drag Race.' It's not good for mainstream TV." Sometimes when people tell you that enough, you believe it yourself. Going forward now, I'm just starting to really believe in my craft and my ability as a performer. But at the same time, I wanna be humble. I know I'm not the sh**. I'm lip syncing to someone else's song. I'm wearing $5 worth of fabric. It's important to find that balance. I wanna deliver something to people that I would like, and part of the problem is that I hate myself. So how am I supposed to sell that?

Do you really feel that way?

I mean, self-deprecating humor is my brand. If I ever went back into the "Race," it would be as a completely new beast.

So if you get the call for "All Stars," it will be a whole new you.

Yeah, exactly. This time I'm gonna be really fat, and I'm gonna have so much plastic surgery. I want extra toes and extra fingers.

Who inspired you to say, "I'm gonna slap this wig on" from the beginning?

If we're talking about "Drag Race" influences, my first influence to actually go out and do drag was Milk from Season 6. I never really felt like I belonged to mainstream gay culture. I had enjoyed "Drag Race," but I never really felt like I was part of the community at all. I didn't feel part of the gay community until I started doing drag. I didn't feel like I fit in with what was portrayed in the media. From what I'd seen, it was catty, attractive people who like mainstream pop culture references and pop stars. I was like this anime nerd who liked cartoons and weird internet humor. I saw Milk on TV and was like, "This bitch is weird. I could do that." That also influenced me to see my first drag show, where I saw KaiKai Bee Michaels, who is now one of my drag sisters. She's here in San Francisco, too. She did a number as Lumpy Space Princess from "Adventure Time," and she did my humps. But the very soft, sensual version by Alanis Morissette, and it was so dumb and so poignant. I was like, "I have to do drag, because this is stupid, and I wanna do it, too." And my drag has never been worse.
