With the introduction of the supercharged 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R, FoMoCo is quickly closing the gap on the powerful Ram 1500 TRX performance off-roader. But for those who are looking to add additional performance to their Ram 1500 TRX, Granger Motors of Granger, Iowa had added two new TRX “Tyrant” Performance packages to mix for 2023, making sure that the TRX will keep the Raptor R in its place.
The TRX Tyrant Performance packages push the supercharged 6.2-liter (376 cubic-inch) HEMI HELLCAT V8 from 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, to an amazing 787 horsepower and 702 lb.-ft. of torque (a gain of 85 horsepower and 52 lb.-ft. of torque). The added power is good enough to push the massive pickup to a 1/4-mile time of 11.84 sec. @ 114 mph, an increase of .9 seconds and 8 mph over a stock TRX.

The standard package will set you back, $7,995, and includes a 3-Year and 36,000-Mile warranty. But for those looking for more, Granger Motors is letting the Ram 1500 TRX catch up to the Raptor R with a TRX Tyrant 37-Inch Performance package. The package takes the standard package and adds the following additional equipment…

- Mopar Performance Power Retractable Running Boards
- 20-Inch Vossen HFS-4 Gloss Black Wheels
- Black-Painted Lug Nuts
- 1.5-Inch Leveling Kit
- Speedometer Recalibration
For those who choose the TRX Tyrant 37-Inch Performance package, the package is priced at $14,995. The pricing includes an exchange of the factory parts (including wheels & tires) for the installed parts. There is an option to keep the OEM factory parts, however, you will be charged an additional $2,000 to do so.
The best thing about these packages is the support. The TRX Tyrant is offered with an industry-leading 3-Year/36,000-Mile extended warranty on the vehicle. This means the warranty will cover the engine, transmission, and drivetrain on the truck. The warranty coverage is facilitated through a third-party administrator, EGAssurance, and is valid at any Stellantis dealership throughout the country.
The rest of the truck will still be covered under Ram’s bumper-to-bumper warranty.
With the TRX Tyrant package, Granger updates the software with both the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) from the Ram settings, a customer can’t just flash the software to the latest factory software, without the truck not operating properly. If you have the truck serviced at a Chrysler/Dodge/FIAT/Jeep/Ram dealer, it is up to the customer to make sure no flash updates are done to the vehicle, according to Granger.
One other thing to keep in mind is that all the emissions systems are still present in the upgraded vehicle and were not altered from their OEM configurations. However, Granger does not do any emissions testing on the TRX Tyrant, so it cannot guarantee it would pass all emissions, so it is up to the customer to do their research to make sure their truck can meet their local regulations.
