Ziwei-Doushu is an ancient oriental analysis system. The word “ZiWei” is the name of the major star with reference to the ancient Chinese Astrology observation. It is actually the Polaris and believe to be the center point of all other stars.
The ancient Chinese observed and grouped some major stars into the Northern (the “Bei-dou”), Southern (the “Nan-Dou”)and Middle Sky (the “Zhong Tian”) groups. They viewed the whole “sky” as a large funnel with the larger opening end capping down on the earth and Polaris become the stationary center point of these stars. This center Polaris was then believe to be the Emperor of all other stars and hence was named as the “Ziwei”
The term “DouShu” is used to name this analysis system. “Dou” literally means “funnel” which is referring to the groups of stars imagined to be displaying on the inner surface of the funnel capping the earth and “Shu” means calculation.
With the above explanation, Ziwei Doushu can then be understood as a systematic method of calculation based on our understanding on various stars to explore the life path of human beings.
The ancient oriental observers believed that when a person is born, the location of stars on the sky with their energy (magnetism field) will play important role in casting the life path of the person. Among all the stars, some are having higher effect as compare to others. The most important “point of time” that this casting of life path be freeze up is the birth date and time of the said person. Hence it led to the believe that the birth date and time is a “point of time” when the life path of the person being fixed. With this believe, various methods had been developed and it was during the Song Dynasty that “Ziwei Doushu” was developed as a standard method and proven for more than thousand years now.
It is beyond our imagination on how the ancient people, without sophisticate instrument, be able to figure out all the detail. Nevertheless, the “Ziwei Doushu” had been in use for more than thousand years. It was started with a total of 1034 stars in the list, which we can plot them on a single A4 paper with 12 surrounding blocks (known as “Palace”). With the understanding of various behavior of these stars, we can then read the life path of a person and use it as a guidance for peaceful and harmony life.
As we know, human life are being more complicated nowadays and we are running out of time, hence the number of stars had been reduced from 1034 to 108 as we now noticed that even with only 108 stars on the “Ziwei Doushu” plot, which is known as Ming Pan (Life Chart), the life path of a person can be understood to quite an extend.
For the beginner, even 108 stars can still be too many to understand. Hence we are going to share about some of the most important stars, which include:
- 14 major stars
- 8 lucky stars (auspicious stars)
- 6 unlucky stars (inauspicious stars)
- 4 transforming stars
- other little stars.
